Movement Awareness Training Workshop
Saturday, Oct 30, 2-4:30 pm. $25.
Early Bird Special: $22 (before Oct 27)
Movement Awareness Training, based on the work developed over a period of 40 years by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, an Israeli scientist and martial arts expert, is a powerful and engaging means of regaining, improving and refining movement.
We are all creatures of habit. For most of us, the movement habits we have learned are far from ideal. Through gentle, relaxing movement explorations, the Movement Awareness Training helps people to move more easily and effectively, and to rediscover the kind of grace and pleasure in movement they experienced as a child.
The workshop will consist of a series of Movement Awareness lessons where participants are verbally led through a series of slow, gentle movements designed to bring habitual movement patterns back into awareness and to introduce easier, lighter, and better organized alternatives. We will focus on increasing flexibility and improving posture.
Movement Awareness Training Course
6 Tuesdays, Nov 2 - Dec 7, 7 - 8 pm. $78.
Early Bird Special: $72 (before Oct 30)
Movement Awareness training is a gentle, relaxing way to learn to move more easily, comfortably and effectively. This 6 week course consist of a different Movement Awareness Lesson each week. Each lesson will focus on improving the functioning of a different part of the body.
We will explore freeing the jaw, loosening the neck and shoulders, lengthening the spine, greater mobility of the pelvis, and freeing the hips. Whatever the focus is, in well-organized movement, the whole body is involved. You will learn to distribute the effort of a movement in such a way that parts of the body that are overworked have an easier time of it and parts that are not used enough start to contribute.
It is not necessary to have attended the workshop to attend these classes.
